We took this opportunity to learn that it isn't trivial to parse a docx into an html file. After spending 12 or so hours (we sorta didn't hack the entire time and we fell asleep) on this and getting little traction, we'll probably just do what the Microsoft guy said and use an API for our website's conversion needs.
